Once again sorry I haven't written in a while. There has been a lot of good that has happened since I posted last. On the 30th of December he got his skull put back together. After he had that operation he started progressing very quickly. He started getting well enought that last Friday the 15th they discharged him and sent him home. It was a good day! It was the first day in almost 2 months that he got to see his puppies and he got to eat a greasy pizza. He still needs some rehab to get him back in to good enough shape to get back on stage but the doctors expect him to have a 100% recovery.

Sorry I haven't written in a while. There wasn't much to report for the longest time there other than slowly getting better. On the 23 he had a little more swelling in his head than the rehab hospital liked so they sent him over to the regular hospital for a CT scan on the 24th and had a DR give him a check up. The CT scan came back all good so they drained the extra fluid out of his head and was keeping him there for observation. On the 26th Wade thought it would be cool to try and walk to the bathroom by himself yet again and fell. They sent him down for another CT scan and x-ray to make sure he didn't do any damage. All scans came back all clear so other than a bloody nose and a sore arm he's all good. They are planning to move him back to the rehab hospital tomorrow. He assured me that he learned his lesson and won't try that move again. Over all he's doing really good.

Wade was doing really good last night. I got to talk to his speech therapist and she is really happy with his progress so far. She also told me that she got him to start eating solid food. Well..mushy stuff but if he keeps it us they'll take his feeding tube out of him and that'll be his last tube. Wahooo!! He still has a long road ahead of him but he has accomplished so much in the last four weeks. I am very proud of him!! He's a fighter that for sure.

No real big change to report other than he's moving around a lot better. The other day we had a little scare, he fell getting out of bed. He still needs assistance getting around but I guess he just woke up and thought he could do it himself. The bed was lowered all the way down to the floor and there are real thick pads on each side of the bed so he didn't hurt himself at all but he sill is missing a piece of his skull so any bumping around is still kind of scary.

I feel like a broken record but he's getting a little better. He got his trache tube out yesterday. I'm sure that feels a million times better. He's also talking a little better. I haven't really heard him talk since he got is trache tube out though. I talked to his physical therapist yesterday and she told me that he's doing really well. He actually could stand and take a couple steps with some assistance. Since he no longer has that tube down his throat they are talking about trying to give him some real food sometime next week.

Sorry again for not writing for a few days. It's still like watching grass grow. Wade continues to progress very slowly. I hear he's starting to talk a little (and by a little I mean one or two words every hour) but every time I'm in to see him he sleeps for about 99% of the time so I haven't heard him talk yet. The reason he is so worn out and tired is because the rehab hospital is working with him to get him strong.

Hey ya'll. Yesterday Wade was moved from the regular hospital and was put in a rehab hospital. When I walked in to visit him he gave me a great big smile and he finally had his eyes somewhat open. He looked very good and he was picking on the nurse that was in his room. It made my heart feel better to see him having a good day. I've only got to see him sleeping for the last three days. He's still not talking yet but he's much more alert. I'll write more after I go to bed for a few hours. I'm falling asleep as I type this.

Ok...so he's back out of the Trauma Unit and back in to a room. He's still weak but moving ahead very slowly. He still has trouble opening his eyes so he doesn't do that a lot. He has almost all of the staples out of his head so he looks a lot more human. He still has the four staples on the top of his head where his drainage tube was but the plastic surgeon was in and said it looked good enough to take those staples out too. I know I said it before but I have to say it again, thanks to everyone that has been sending money to help Wade. For those don't know how to donate just shoot me an e-mail at emilytb@yahoo.com and I'll tell you how to do that.

Sorry I haven't had an update in a day or two. I wasn't around a computer for the last two days. They moved him back in to the trauma unit. His oxygen levels were down a little bit and they wanted to make sure it wasn't a blood clot in his lungs. It turned out to NOT be a blood clot it was just some hard mucus in his left lung that he couldn't cough out himself so they sucked it out. Sorry...I know...gross. They also have a speech therapist in working with him to teach him to talk through his trache tube. He's still real weak so that wears him out. I'd like to thank the State College crew that came down to visit and show some love for Wade yesterday. I think it really helped raise his spirit.

Yesterday Wade was moved out of the trauma unit and was moved to a room. I think he was really tired from the big move. He was sleeping most of the time I was there. I told you the other day that I'd count the staples in his head....I counted as many as I could see but he was laying on a bunch so I would have to guesstimate between 50-60. Not like I'm an expert on sewing skin back together or anything but I think that whoever did it, did a pretty good job.

Wade is starting to come to a little bit. He still isn't talking but he can write small notes. I went in to visit him yesterday I started talking and he reached out grabbed me by the back of the head and gave me a big hug. It was wonderful!! He still has a long road a head of him so please keep him in your prayers.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to update yesterday. The holiday kicked my but. Wade is finally off of all the medication and they got him off the venalator so all he has to do now is wake up so we can see how much rehab he will need. Hopefully he will wake up soon but you just never know how long it may take. Thanks to everyone that has been donating money to Wade.

Wade looked a lot better when I left last night. He had some color back in his cheeks. He also got the tube out of his head that was there to drain the fluid off his brain. That's a good thing! The stiches (well I guess they are staples) in his head make is head look like a baseball. That's the pattern they are in. There's a lot of staples and stitches. I'll count em when go in to see him later today. He had two black eyes and they are about gone. I found out that his insurance only covers one go of rehab and he's probably going to need two. That might suck. Thanks to everyone that has been donating. Maybe ETB might have to come do a private show for the person that donates the most money. Anyone up for that? I better get to bed and get some sleep.

Nothing real major to report today. The doctors just did some preventive things today and are going to slowly start to take him off of the medication he's on so he can wake up on his own. A lot of people have been asking where they should money/flowers/cards to. I set up a trust fund for Wade today and if any one would like to donate money send me an email at emilytb@yahoo.com and I'll get back to you with details. Any one wanting to send cards can send them to Emily's ToyBox ATTN: Wade, PO Box 291, Parker Ford, PA 19457. Thanks to all for your prayers and support.

It's kind of like watching grass grow but he keeps getting a little better every day. The swelling of his brain continues to slowly go down. I was just in to talk to the nurse and she said that all of the tests they are doing are coming back positive so I guess we can't ask for anything else.

11/22/09 10:30am
Sorry I don't have and more news other than he is doing a little better. SO...I'll go backwards and tell you a little of what happened to him when he first got here. When he got to the hospital his brain was swelling bad so they had to cut a piece of his skull off so the brain had room to swell. They also had to put a tube in to his brain to get rid of the fluid build up and then they sedated him so he didn't come to and hurt himself. That's pretty much where it has been ever since. Just waiting and praying.

As a lot of you may know Wade and Milhouse were in a bad car accident on Friday morning at about 1:30am. Milhouse was seen at the hospital and released with a slight concussion and some bruises. Wade is still at the hospital and is pretty banged up. He will be in the hospital for some time yet.  We ask that you please respect the families time with him at the hospital while he is recovering, as visiting is limited to family only.  We would like to put a big ‘Thank You’ out to the drumming community for opening up their hearts to ETB and offering your services in our time of need. We do have a back up drummer that will be filling in for Wade while he is in the hospital as we want Wade to continue concentrating on his recovery. Please keep praying for Wade. He needs it. Thank you to ALL of the people that have been sending us e-mails, texts, calls and messages. Sorry to anyone that didn't know we had to cancel last nights show at the Hardware Bar in Harrisburg. I'd like to thank the management and staff of ALL of the Hardware Bars for their support, understanding and concern. I want to make it clear that ETB did NOT cancel tonight's show…Tonight’s show was canceled by the club. If you see or hear that ETB will be in your area please show your support for Wade by coming out and seeing the band so we can continue to support him both emotionally and monetarily while he is in recovery. I created this page so I can give EVERYONE updates on Wade's condition. I’ve been trying to get back with everyone that contacted me with concerns for Wade, but I have been overwhelmed so please check back HERE for updates on Wade’s condition. Thank you once again for all of your support.
